BMX rider Dave Mirra successfully debuted as a rally racer in the Rally of the Tall Pines, the final round of the 2007 Canadian Rally Championship. Driving a MONSTER energy™ Subaru Impreza rally car prepared by Vermont SportsCar, he finished an astonishing 22nd overall.
Mirra is working with Vermont SportsCar to enter the 2008 Rally America National Championship, which kicked off with the Sno*Drift Rally in Atlanta, Michigan, the last weekend of January.
A pro BMX rider since 1992, Dave Mirra holds the record for most X Games medals with 21, including most gold medals. Recognized as one of the world’s best-known action sports athletes, Mirra is credited with bringing freestyle BMX into the mainstream.

One of the first appearances of the 2008 WRX 5-Door as a competitor happened at the Atlanta Subaru Challenge on November 17, 2007. Driven by Steven Rankins, the WRX was entered in E Street Prepared class. Rankins drove to 1st in class and 3rd overall in a field consisting of more than 100 competitors, including five nationally ranked SCCA drivers.
The car was prepared by subarupartspro.com, with support from Subaru of America, Inc. Upgrades included wheels, tires, and suspension parts.
The last issue of Drive Performance featured the Impreza WRX 5-Door by AEM – a concept car from the Subaru SEMA Show display in Las Vegas late last year. Besides the AEM car, Subaru had six other cars on display:
