REVERSE - LETTERS FROM READERS

arrows UNDAUNTED!

I WAS IN A MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT IN NOVEMBER 2005, which left me paralyzed from the chest down. Now, I love my Subie, and selling it was not an option.

A friend spread the word that I needed help. Well, Cobb Tuning stepped up to the plate and got me back into my STI, and I even got to keep the six-speed manual transmission!

Here’s a list of mods that have been done to the car:

  • K&N Typhoon® short ram intake
  • 5Zigen clutch system
  • Lowered on Tanabe GF210 springs
  • GReddy cat-back exhaust
  • 18" Nitza Krimson K6 wheels
  • Schroth four-point harness
  • Sure Grip hand controls
  • 3" Cobb downpipe
  • Cobb access port
  • Dyno tuned by Cobb resulting in 278 whp and 282 torque, literally at my finger tips

OUR HOUSEHOLD HAS A 2005 WRX SPORT WAGON, and it is one fine automobile. Everything about it is terrific.

I have always wanted to add an STI to our driveway, but have always been turned off by the “boy racer” wings. When Drive arrived in the mail showing the STI Limited without the wings, I was most excited. Then I read that only 800 will be made, and 400 of them in Urban Gray (the color I want). My chances of getting one? Probably zero.

Why can’t you offer the standard STI without (option) the boy-racer wings? I’d buy one.

Footnote: Not all STI buyers are 18- to 30-year-olds. I am 70 and have worked many weekends as timer/statistician in professional sports car racing (Daytona 24 Hour, Sebring, etc.). We drove the WRX to Daytona in January for the 24 Hour – best drive I’ve ever had.
