This Subaru-only autocross event was held at Gulf Greyhound Park on March 4, with technical inspection at nearby McRee Subaru in Dickinson the night before. Among the participants were those from San Antonio, Austin, College Station, Dallas, Fort Hood, Beaumont, Port Arthur, Houston and other cities throughout the state.

Julie Stepan represented the Subaru/SPT/ESX Motorsports team at the meet, where she witnessed racing different from her usual quarter-mile turns at the wheel.

Regardless of what happened on the track that day, the high point was the 41-car police escort to the track. Led by Chief Weiner of the Friendswood Police Department, the escort was for U.S. Marine Corp Cpl. Steven K. Schulz, who was severely wounded near Fallujah in Iraq. His father commented, “My hope is that one day Steven will be able to drive a WRX again and enjoy the things he loves – cars and speed!”
