Weir has been with Subaru of America, Inc. since 2006 and is the district sales manager for the southern Ohio market.
He purchased his first rally car in early 2011, prepared it, and entered Sports Car Club of America rallycross for experience with the car. His first rally was in October 2011 – the Perryville Farm and Forest Rally, Perryville, Missouri. He recounted: “We ended up running the fastest time overall, so we actually won the first event we ran. That was in the Open Light class. So that set the bar pretty high for the rest of the season.”
At the Snow*Drift Rally (Atlanta, Michigan) in January 2012, Weir placed 2nd in class. He then competed at Rally in the 100 Acre Wood (Salem, Missouri) and the New England Forest Rally. (Ride with Rob Weir and Dan Norkus in the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood here.
Next year, Weir plans to run in Open Class in the National Championship.
Norkus began co-driving with Rob Weir at Rally in the 100 Acre Wood. A staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, he is a mechanic for fighter planes and has served in Afghanistan.
Norkus competes in rallycross and rides as co-driver in the Rally America series, and he races in the United States and Canada.
